349 pilots accept the challenge

Crocodile trophyDecember 6, 2011 - Four 349 (F) sqn pilots have decided to compete in the 2012 edition of the famous Crocodile Trophy in Australia. The Crocodile Trophy is considered the longest, hardest and most adventurous mountainbike race in the world. Challenged by the extreme heat and rough terrain of the Australian outback, the riders will have to survive nine stages between Cairns and Cooktown, totalling around 1,000km and 13,000 altimeters.

The four pilots - currently deployed in Afghanistan - have started their training with indoor cycling and running sessions. Sponsors such as Ridley, DCM and ETIXX will support them throughout their trainings and races. It's worth mentioning that these pilots will not sacrifice operational availability while preparing for this ultimate adventure.

Child cancer fund

thumb_news-010February 13, 2009 - 349 sqn visited the child cancer fund, located in Ghent. Five squadron members were delighted to present a check of € 3.490. This tradition began in 1996 when each squadron member started to donate € 3,49 a month. Each time the magical sum of € 3.490 is collected, a delegation is sent to Ghent to hand over the check. This was already the third time we could give such a check and with the money well spent, we are planning to continue for many more years. Visit the child cancer fund at http://www.kinderkankerfonds.be (in Dutch).
